PANK Magazine is a very rad literary magazine. I am therefore very excited to have a poem featured in the latest issue, a special parenting issue. Click here and scroll to the bottom to read my poem, but definitely spend time checking out the other pieces. I'm honored to share space with such talented writers, and thankful to editors Roxane Gay and Amye Archer for putting together this incredible issue.

“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in life. And I am horribly limited.” --Sylvia Plath

so i guess i'm officially an "emerging writer..."
The latest news in the world of my own poetry includes a publication in the summer print issue of Emerge Literary Journal. The journal describes itself as
If you're really rich, you can spend another $20 and receive a full-color issue of MiPOesias, which features my poem, "On Elbows." Or you can download the digital version for free (I think I'm on page 33 or something like that). Both options are available here.
You can also click on the "Poems" page to the right for a complete list of my published poems. And hopefully I'll be adding more soon...
Also, here is a poem (not by me) that is too incredible to not share:

...new journal of online and print poetry dedicated to emerging poets and their words. We aim to publish poets who are currently emerging on the literary scene and hope to be a foundation for the poets seeking to be published here. We love, prefer free verse--words with passion, voice, and place. We look for images that linger, that we can take with us to bed at night, ideas used in magnificent ways. Our print issue features the best work received from the preceding reading period. The journal features two of my poems and you can purchase it here for $5.70 plus s&h.

In honor of Poetry Month...
What a great month to have my poems published! (though any month would be a great month). Remember when I was submitting poems like a boss? Yeah, that totally paid off.
Today I have two poems for you to read, located in these very fine places:
MiPOesias Magazine (page 33. you can also download a digital copy or purchase a print issue here)
anderbo.com (just find "Sarah Certa" and click on it)
Also, in case you missed it, my dear friend and very talented writer/editor/artist Emmalea Russo featured three of my poems in the inaugural issue of em:me magazine (I'm on pages 9-13).
More soon....

Three of my poems were published today in the inaugural issue of em:me magazine, a new publication founded and edited by the very talented Emmalea Russo--my dear friend and also my roommate during residencies in Vermont. The magazine also features artwork and photography. Check it out! And to my writer/artist friends who are interested in submitting, the next issue goes live June 20th, 2012... think about it!
My poems are on pages 9-13. Click here to read the magazine. Leave some love, yo.

pop the champagne!!!! {best acceptance letter in the history of acceptance letters}
I was absolutely blown away when I got home last night and found this email from the editor of a journal I'd submitted poems to (for privacy reasons I'm not going to disclose the name of the journal or its editor):
Dear Sarah Certa,
Thank you for sending us your work.
Fabulous. Fabulous. Fabulous. To be honest, I'm jealous and wish I'd written them all myself, so jealous in fact, I can't decide which of them to accept. I want them all, but I can't be that greedy. So, I'll tell you what, as a writer I know I always have preference for where I'd like to see a piece end up when I simultaneously submit and then it sometimes ends up in another place. This might sound crazy, but you tell me what poem(s) you'd like to see in [the journal] and then whichever or however many you choose will be featured in the June print issue.
Thanks again for your interest in [the journal] and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future (that's if you don't think I'm too crazy for offering you an unusual kind of acceptance letter).
Um, WHAT?! I didn't know this could happen. Needless to say, my stomach was doing (still kind of is whenever I think about it) all kinds of crazy flippity-floppity shit. I'm flabbergasted. And so encouraged.
This photo is the best I could find that accurately depicts my emotions in response to this news:
