“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in life. And I am horribly limited.” --Sylvia Plath

write write write write write . . .

from Jen Bervin's The Silver Book, Ugly Duckling Presse, 2010

write the precise points that touch
the rivers of energy in the body --
enter them -- and tell me -- if they are
still wet -- tell me -- where they've been
-- tell me -- who touched you all winter --
tell me who -- you'll remember -- in
spring --

jen bervin is a poetry faculty member at VCFA (among many other things). she's fascinating, wise, mesmerizing... visit her website and be sure to check out her online project A Non-Breaking Space.

  2. You should definitely get your hands on a copy of The Silver Book then. So beautiful. She also has a lovely piece of work called Nets. And a free online piece called A Non-Breaking Space.
